In the past few years, under the joint influence of various internal and external factors, China's chip industry has achieved rapid development, and Guangdong Province has also made rapid progress in this wave. Among them, Guangzhou Nansha is guided by national strategic needs and is seizing the significant opportunity of Guangdong Province to vigorously build the "third pole" of China's integrated circuit industry. Behind this, the Guangdong Provincial Government and leaders at all levels such as Guangzhou City and Nansha District attach great importance to integrated circuits, which is the primary reason. As a think tank for the semiconductor and integrated circuit industry cluster in Guangdong Province, Xinmou Research has also widely participated in the development of the semiconductor and integrated circuit industry in Guangdong Province, actively supporting the development strategy and major project planning of Guangdong Province's semiconductor and integrated circuit industry. Contribute to the development of Guangdong semiconductors.

Recently, the 2023 China Nansha International Integrated Circuit Industry Forum, organized by Xinmou Research, was also held grandly in Nansha, Guangzhou. The theme of this forum is "Nansha Core Voice Gathers Potential for the Future", firmly implementing the "Nansha Plan", closely following the hot topics of the integrated circuit industry for ideological collision, and assisting the continuous development and growth of the Nansha integrated circuit industry.

Wei Shaojun, a professor of Tsinghua University, also delivered a speech entitled "Re globalization of the Semiconductor industry" at the forum.

Semiconductor globalization interrupted

Professor Wei Shaojun first pointed out in his speech that in the past two decades, mobile communication has become the only technology that has truly achieved global uniformity in product technology. "Taking the iPhone as an example, we can design this chip in the United States, process it in Taiwan, China, send it to Malaysia for packaging, and then send it to Chinese Mainland with components from South Korea, Japan and Europe, and sell it to the world after assembly." Professor Wei Shaojun gave an example.

In Professor Wei's view, the development of the iPhone is actually a process of global development. This process of globalization has actually created the globalization of the global semiconductor supply chain. The reason why supply chains can form globalization requires many factors, including cost, delivery time, capacity, technology, standards, market, economy, culture, society, and politics. But these are all appearances, the true meaning and pursuit of the goal is profit, that is, whether to make money or not, which is very important. According to Professor Wei's viewpoint, the birth of the semiconductor global supply chain is actually a manifestation of human society following the laws of economic development.

The fundamental reason why a global supply chain has been formed in the past 20 years is that it was a spontaneous market action with the tacit consent of the government. Without the tacit consent of the government, this global supply chain could not have been formed. However, today we see that due to government intervention, especially some inappropriate interventions, the global supply chain has started to have problems. "Professor Wei Shaojun continued.

The process of semiconductor globalization has been interrupted and the supply chain has been disrupted, "Professor Wei Shaojun further emphasized.

According to him, the main reasons for this problem are specific targeted sanctions, the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the panic of Chip shortage, and the coercion of some countries in the past few years
